There is a multitude of reasons I decided to start sharing my story. I’ve been on support groups on FB since my journey started. I know I’m not alone in the frustration with unknown health problems. So hopefully, this will help someone not feel so alone. Some are just now realizing that people who survived Covid are still having health problems for weeks, months, and even years later. May 10th, 2022 is my Covid anniversary, marking 2 years of continuing health problems. I’m not alone, even among people I know and love. Awareness for post covid or long haulers is only beginning. I plan to include links to research and articles I find. The last but not least reason, I’m a researcher and writer, this blog is also a therapeutic outlet for me. The Before Times: In early 2020, before the pandemic, I was generally very healthy. I’ve been a licensed massage therapist since 2007, and after growing up in martial arts became active again in taekwondo around 2013. The only major health condition I had/have is chronic pain in my neck from a car accident in 2017. By early 2020, I was working full-time and back to kicking with managing my pain through chiropractic and massage. Important to note here: I did not have vision issues. I finished my Bachelor of Science degree in psychology online in 2019, drove to Virginia regularly, and was sewing masks during the shutdown. I could see clearly both near and far without the aid of glasses.
Sidenote: Kicking therapy (taekwondo) keeps you pretty healthy
